Where will my massage session take place?
Your massage session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music will be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort and you will be covered during your session other than the part of the body being worked on.
Must I be completely undressed?
Most massages are traditionally performed with the client unclothed and you will be covered during your session other than the part of the body being worked on. Ladies typically leave their panties on and sometimes leave their bras on due to be being large chested or because they are breastfeeding.
Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress and get relaxed and covered up on the massage table. She will knock before entering to make sure the client is ready for her to enter the room.
Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm, safe, and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body session will include work on your head, neck, shoulders, back, arms, hands, legs, and feet and the client will be asked to lie face up and face down changing positioning half way thru the session. Targeted work typically involves work on the neck, shoulders, and back and the client may or may not be asked to change positioning during the massage.
What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if they need less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. Please let the practitioner know if you are feeling uncomfortable during your session so they can make the proper adjustments. If you have any questions regarding the session please ask.
How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. Some people get whoozy after getting up from the table so take your time. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, better sleep, and greater productivity which can last for several days.
What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes! That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking on your intake form and in between sessions.
Can I re-book a massage in office after my massage?
Yes! To maintain the benefits of your massage we highly encourage you to receive a massage on a regular basis. To begin with you may need to attend sessions every couple of weeks for a month or two if you have some stubborn areas that need addressed. Most people typically do well to receive their massages every 3-4 weeks after that.
